When attempting to start TF2 I get a segfault that causes the game to crash back to the client immediately after attempting to go fullscreen.

Same issue with my laptop - AMD A8-3500M/HD 6620G. Running Xubuntu 12.04 32-bit, fglrx-updates from the Precise Proposed repo. Tried building .debs from the latest beta drivers on the AMD site, but the operation failed (can't recall the exact error message, but I was able to build the latest stable driver with no problems).

Either way, with the beta drivers, I get the same segfault. Tried adding -nojoy to the launch options, thinking maybe it was related to the joystick-crash bug, but...well... no joy there.

Same issue here. Beta works fine aside from occasional crashes.

EDIT: here is a gist with strace https://gist.github.com/4356614

Ppatientone 2012-12-22 github

I have resolved my issue, but I am afraid my fix is specific to SELinux (Fedora uses it, not sure of others). Below is the command used that fixed the segmentation fault when starting Team Fortress 2. Can now start via Steam client without issue :)

sudo setsebool -P allow_execheap 1

This has been marked as duplicate. What is the original ticket ID?

Ggdrewb-valve maintainer 2013-11-04 github

@GregJPreece , is this still active? If so can you post a recent crash ID (the others have aged out)? There are known SELinux conflicts with the Miles audio library, which you might be hitting.

Closing pending confirmation that this still happens.
