I can't seem to fix it. Non steam games seem to be working. After i fresh installed ubuntu 12.10 i tried this guide:

Could you run steam in a terminal, and launch CS and provide the log here please.

Adding those lines to steam.conf in ld.so.conf.d should be unnecessary. The nvidia package takes care of linking and pointing to the correct opengl libs automagically. I suspect by adding those lines you're breaking that.

So i should just delete the steam.conf file at all or just empting it?

Move the conf file somewhere if you feel a need to back it up. You'll need to restart the display at least. Probably best to reboot as there are kernel modules involved. If it's still failing, you'll need to reconfigure or re-install the Xorg driver package. Note the 310 and 313 series nvidia drivers don't support older cards - geforce 8 or higher, i think.

Yes, my vga card is the nvidia GT330M, and i've managed to make it work well with 310 drivers from ubuntu 12.04

how do i reinstall the xorg driver package?i think im going back to ubuntu 12.04, it was working back when i use it to upgrade to 12.10.

hilarious, just installed ubuntu 12.04 with the home folder intact, and it still gives the same error when running CS 1.6:

i wonder if this has anything to do with any home data from previous installations

Ok, it's working with 310 drivers and ubuntu 12.04. had to remove the steam folder in the .local/share one.
