greuben is sad without ♥ from me (you know, copy&pasting love is weird). Unicode input support in the Steam client would be neat.

Just for info, this is a GTK+ input method to allow entering any unicode codepoint http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_input#In_X11_.28Linux_and_other_Unix_variants.29

Might be worth noting that the compose key (another way of making certain non-standard characters,) still works in the steam client, (that is, you can assign a key to be a "compose" key, and then press the compose key followed by < then 3 and it will turn that into ♥)
