Background: Located at http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/846938351169300407/ is a discussion regarding the use of -dxlevel with TF2 on linux. People have claimed to see varying results.

The question is this: are those results just placebo or does dxlevel actually have some effect on the linux games?

I wonder happens if the dxlevel is set to +dxlevel -111(Enabling DX11)

The first results being claimed were with -dxlevel 80 which downplays the dxlevel which makes it less intensive (thus theoretically improving performance).

It may have just been placebo, but I can say that now I no longer notice a difference when using that flag.

dxlevel has a minor effect on Linux but nothing like on Windows. It will toggle a few features on or off in rendering but nothing significant, nor is any of what it affects guaranteed to continue being affected as changes are made.

If it helps your frame rate you're welcome to use it, but its effect will vary between systems and drivers.

Nothing extracted yet.
