xdg-open should exist on Ubuntu, but it won't hurt to have a fallback to sensible-browser. That works for those who don't use Gnome/Unity or KDE.
@baryluk would you mind listing your distro? xdg-open should be supported by all distros by now; is it possible you could file a bug with them too?
@johndrinkwater You know what dependencies are? Please state them in Package description. FYI: xdg-open is in package xdg-utils in Debian/Ubuntu.
Launcher version 1.0.0.62 (currently considered to be a beta, because there are quite a lot of changes since 1.0.0.61) has a Recommends on xdg-utils (except on SteamOS, which doesn't have that package). Please try https://repo.steampowered.com/steam/archive/precise/steam-launcher_latest-beta_all.deb and report any regressions as separate issues.
Nothing extracted yet.
When trying to click "Help -> Steam Support" menu item, I just getting:
Can you first check wheter xdg-open exists, and if not show an dialog with URL to be manually copied?
Thanks.
