Found this from another Mint 14 user with same issue (library paths) with FTL http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10206 see if their solution works (and if it doesnt break other games)
Their problem seems to be with a wrong library distributed with the game. My problem is that it can't find the right library. So I'm verifying my cache now.
EDIT: I just couldn't see the right file. I just used their solution and it worked.
Hi guys, this is a little strange as Trine 2 does not ship with ./lib/lib32/libstdc++.so.6 If the file exists in the Trine 2 folder then something is going wrong somewhere. We don't recall ever shipping with it. If it exists in the Trine 2 folder then deleting it is fine. There are some theories why the error message would show up like that (could be an issue with the PhysX library perhaps) but nothing really conclusive.
We also tested a fresh install of Linux Mint 14 (64-bit) and Trine 2 Steam, and had no issues.
gjgfuj, can you post the exact solution that worked for you?
This is/was hopefully just a random fluke. :)
Solution was to delete the libstdc++.so.6. It worked. (Also I am using 32bit.)
Thanks - but just to confirm, the libstdc++.so.6 file was in the Trine 2 folder?
Yes. Steam/steamapps/common/Trine 2/lib/lib32 to be precise.
Odd, I didn’t have that file. Did you install Trine 2 directly from Steam or from somewhere else like copied in via a humble install? (I know some users did this early in the beta when the game was installable but empty)
I did a clean install from Steam and didn't have that file in the lib/lib32 folder. I think the current installation is clean, so the workaround of removing that file is a good one.
Thanks!
Nothing extracted yet.
./bin/trine2_linux_32bit: ./lib/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version 'GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not found (required by ./bin/trine2_linux_32bit) ./bin/trine2_linux_32bit: ./lib/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version 'GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by ./bin/trine2_linux_32bit)is all I get when I try to run Trine 2.
It gets to the launcher, and the launcher runs, but not the game.
I am running a clean installation of Linux Mint 14.
I can run every other linux game i own (Over 30)
I don't know why Trine 2 doesn't work.
