Well, I guess it may have been a temporary thing. The Steam beta prompted me to apply an update, and while it didn't seem to do anything, the overlay once again worked afterwards. So I guess I jumped the gun a bit.
There was a problem with file permissions in the first beta client today which was fixed in the second, so you may have played with the first and then been fixed by the second.
Nothing extracted yet.
I don't know if it was the 4/24 patch or if it's because of upgrading to the Steampipe beta, but the Steam Community in-game overlay (Shift+Tab) is no longer working in Team Fortress 2 on Linux. I still have the overlay enabled in Steam settings, and it's checked in the TF2 properties, but it's not functioning. The little pop-up about the overlay also doesn't show when loading TF2, so it seems completely disabled.
Don't know if this is a Linux issue or something across all platforms.
