When I first entered the beta around the beginning of december, the Steam window could be resized and moved. Now, after some update, the window does always fill the whole screen and even draws above the panel.

Running the latest Steam on Fedora 18 with GNOME Shell 3.6

Hi,
I have the same problem with Ubuntu 12.10 with GNOME 3 (no Unity).
The biggest problem this causes is that in GNOME 3 you need to put your mouse in the top left corner of the screen to see all the windows of the desktop. This function is disabled when the steam client is shown because of this bug ...

This is a screenshot of the whole screen :

The same thing goes for me. I can try clicking the top bar to move it but it leaves focus of the steam window. The maximize button does nothing. I can move the windows to another screen by pressing the super key and dragging it to another monitor.

Just wanted to let you know that I can no longer reproduce this on any of my systems. I have done a clean installation since, so anyone still seeing this should probably try the same...

@azerty9971 @fur0n would you confirm its no longer reproducible so we can close this.

Last time I checked (less than 3 days ago) I still had the issue...

I'll try reinstalling the client tomorrow or Monday and will let you know...

I just tried to uninstall and reinstall but It is still not letting me shrink the windows or move it my clicking on the top bar. I still don't know how I broke it in the first place.

#102 may be the same issue? Can you try the metacity workaround?

Ffur0n 2013-01-15 github

ya running the command did work. however i had to run the other commands:

metacity --replace --no-force-fullscreen
mutter --replace
gnome-shell --replace

After those commands I was able to have it all working and now for the first time since i installed steam i can now resize the window. Thanks

I have put in a little workaround for this, should be in the next release

I've tried everything you mentionned, however I still have the bug :/

I tried removing (+ purge) steam, then reinstalled using the latest .deb, the commands above, nothing has worked :(.

Thanks for your support,
Azerty9971

did you remember to exit and restart steam after the first command?

That was my mistake and resizing is now working ^^.

Thank you for your help @fur0n !!!

Kind regards,
