UI (main menu, back/forward buttons etc.) is unresponsive when I middle click in the Steam client. Right clicking fixes the issue, but it's a little annoying.

This issue will be probably fixed when support for the PRIMARY selection will be added (#27), but I think it's still worth mentioning.

Not seeing the issue here, could you provide your system info as requested https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux#reporting-issues please. What was in your copy buffer?

Aaviraccoon 2013-05-08 github

This problem happens with anything in the copy buffer. No error in the terminal or in the Steam console (when launching it with steam -console).

Not sure why does it show crash reports, Steam is otherwise working great. The only errors I see in the terminal is an invalid app state and LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB-WARNING (which isn't related to this problem).

The invalid app state messages also report a failure, so that's where your failure reports are coming from.

Data point for Valve: I can't repro this, for me nothing happens on middle click (expected since there's no primary selection support) but the client continues running normally.

happens to me too, but not only Steam becomes unresponsive but also the rest of my desktop and my bars.
I'm using arch linux with Xfce4 and xfwm4 on xorg 1.13

I get this problem all the time in both Ubuntu 13.10 and Arch Linux. My Whole DE becomes unresponsive until i right click in the steam browser window.

I see this one too. SteamOS in a Debian testing/unstable environment; desktop is Xfce.

Same here on Archlinux. It happens everytime I click any link in the store.

Here we are almost two years and countless update later, and this is still a problem. If you're going to start taking away features from my OS in the client, at least fix the problem so it doesn't become unresponsive. Middle-click paste is a highly used feature in Linux, and an accidental middle click is easy to do on sensitive scroll wheels. It's pretty much muscle memory to highlight something and middle click wherever you want to past it. To have not only the Steam client, but my whole system become unresponsive due to this is completely unacceptable, especially two years after it was initially reported.

I can also reproduce this issue, which I discovered by accidentally middle-clicking on a discussion (to open in a new tab, I know, I know).

I'm having the same issue. Glad I finally found a thread with others facing the same problem.

Middle clicking in Steam Client window causes Steam UI to be
unresponsive, yes. Pages (webview) do respond, window elements do not.

Having this, yeah, and with the latest update.

Iitzexor 2016-01-03 github

This is reproducible for me every time by middle clicking any link on the store page. All applications including the steam client except for the embedded browser become unresponsive to mouse clicks until you right click anywhere.

Yyankee14 2016-01-04 github

It seems to be reproducible for me by middle clicking anywhere in the Steam client, on any page. Pages become responsive again in the same way you described.
