I got a problem with my Steam client (built may 10) on an Ubuntu 13.04/Gnome Shell system. At some point I manually resized the client in "small mode" to about double its size. Since then I can't reduce it down to its original size, making "small mode" effectively as large as the "large mode", just with small fonts and small icons. I can still grab the window by mouse and make it even bigger, it will also let me resize this back - to the point where I started but not to the size it was intended.
Never mind that. I forgot I was running the skin Manager for Steam - and this is the one that was making trouble. Running steam though the default starter fixed the "problem". Me bad.
