This sounds like an issue with your Flash player as the store page would usually play a video of the game automatically when you go to a game page.
I've seen a few people complaining about this on 64bit systems but luckily I'm not effected.
Flash player version: 11.2.202.285
OS: Linux 3.8.0-23-generic (64-bit)
Can you post what version your using:

I really wish they've move to a HTML5 player for those videos as I just don't like Flash and it isn't being supported properly by Adobe.
You could try this but I've never used it. Some people on Steam forum saying it solved the issue for them:

Great, thank you! the SH file worked to me.
So now Valve must fix that thing.
Nothing extracted yet.
Damn Steam Linux client again with damn bugs.
On this time, when i try to open a game from the Store to download it, the program closes. I tried it on the Beta client. When i downgraded to the Stable version, it happens the same, and sometimes the "Shop" tab freezes.
So, Valve guys, don't complaint about piracy, when the problem is WITH YOUR DAMN PROGRAM!!!
I'm using Debian 7 (64bit) with KDE. It also happens on MATE (Gnome2 fork) and Gnome Classic.
All my software is updated.
