We've passed this on, thanks.
This looks like a bug when calling IOHIDManagerCopyDevices. If you unplug some of your USB devices that should correct the issue, if you tell me which one in particular that would be very interesting.
Okay, crash reproduced and fixed, release coming soon.
Thanks Alfred. It was a USB problem and for me it was a Bamboo tablet (although others would've had different devices) but I'm glad you found and fixed the problem. Will notify those I know who are affected.
The beta version of steam has been updated with this fix, if you were opted in before you should be able to run again. We will be promoting this update to the general public build shortly if you weren't previously in the beta.
Was able to opt into the beta through the workaround and I can confirm that the fix worked. Thanks for the quick fix Alfred!
The beta is now public, so this should be fixed for all.
Cheers.

First of all, apologies if this should not be here. There is no Steam bug tacker for other OSes and Steam Support only replies with suggestions like "reinstall Steam".
After the latest version, Steam for Mac crashes on startup. 100% reproducible for most. Seems to be fine for some but they must have not got the update yet. There's a big thread on the steamcommunity.com discussions and a small one on the steampowered.com forum.
The stack trace can vary a little but it's mostly like this:
