Right now, there are two entries:
Left 4 Dead 2 (Beta) Left 4 Dead 2 Beta
These are different and incompatible games. It's not clear to people which one they actually want to install (the former)
While unfortunate, it's completely consistent with all other releases of Valve games.
Closing as the (Beta) in the game list were removed some time ago.
