In Ubuntu with Unity, Steam launches Source games in its Unity "section" while in the terminal, games launch in their own Unity section.

This relates to alt tabbing.

I can't get an output as to why it crashes when I alt tab or just click on the Steam section and return to my game, because running in the terminal, alt tabbing is just fine. It allows the TF2 Unity section to appear.

Also, by Unity "section" I mean this:

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 (yes I know it's not released yet, and is in its alpha stages, but it happened on 13.04 and previous releases as well), Nvidia GeForce 220GT, Core 2 Quad Q6600 5GB DDR2 RAM.

If the game is crashing (can check with ps to see it is still running), then Steam’s System Information report will include crashids from the game - would you include that information please.

Actually the whole crash thing might just involve Compiz hogging stuff.

As for the games not launching in their own "section" it probably should be taken care of.

Nothing extracted yet.
