I have some non-Steam games that don't work with Steam Community In-Game enabled, primarily Wine games. I like the convenience of having all my installed games listed and launchable from Steam, plus it's nice to indicate to my friends what game I'm playing. The overlay is good to have when it works, but for the few specific non-Steam games it doesn't play nice with, an option to disable overlay would be helpful.

true but i can't really blame them, there are 1670 (active) issues it's hard to track every single of them

I don't see that option in big picture mode. Maybe it got removed after the recent rework (I believe it's related to Steam Deck)?

Elusive.

Still broken, the toggle does nothing noticeable on non-steam apps.

It's interesting that this is even a bug. Let alone that it hasn't been fixed yet. Seems like an easy gimme.

I have this issue, I added Firestorm (a secondlife viewer) into Steam to run it via proton... Overlay is stuck on.

I'm having this issue too. Added an controller input program for Linux as a non-steam program. Toggled off the in-game overlay button for the input display program but the overlay is still enabled.

This is an issue because the FPS counter shows up on every window and child window for the input display program. I could turn off the FPS counter but I had it on because I wanted it on.

Ofc, we're also unable to turn off the FPS counter for specific programs/games.
