Since yesterday when I bought this game on Humble Indie Bundle I can´t install it, all the others are working, a message appears saying it is preparing the files to install but after some time I get this:

An error occurred while installing FTL: Faster Than Light (connection time out)

It installed on my desktop yesterday, fails today on my laptop and also reported by another user on #steamlug. Same symptom.

I have the same problem and I'm using Arch Linux 64 bits. I also tried to install it after joining (with 'betapatch' code) and choosing the beta version, but gave me the same error when trying to download.

Hey guys,

Just signed up so I could tell those who are still having the problem like I did, that if you open Steam, go to Settings > Preferences (or Steam > Preferences on Mac) > Downloads Tab then change your download region (I did New Zealand) and hit OK then Steam will restart and upon re-opening the download works. Found it on the FTL forum - hope it helps someone out there!

@johndrinkwater Might be. For me, it wouldn't let me install FTL from the US - Denver mirror nor the US - Seattle (Comcast) mirror. But when I changed to New Zealand, it worked like a charm.

Change to New Zealand worked for me too, as a temporary fix it really does the job.

FTL does not appear to have mirroring issues in my area anymore. So ... can some other people retest as well?

I can confirm everything is normal in my area too, I downloaded the game with no problem, if more people can confirm I think this bug report can be closed.
