Steam not start and the mouse cursor disappears

Hi, This is what I noticed when installing default video driver: Steam starts, but the computer is very slow. And I can not run any game. When you install FGLRX driver, Steam will not start, and the mouse cursor disappears.
So the issue is the same in the video driver. Or with the way it works with Linux kernel

Don't. Ever. "launch Steam as root."! If it doesn't run unless as root, that itself it a pretty major bug. Steam (for Linux) in its current state is pretty early and thus unstable software and shouldn't be given the power to do whatever it wants to do with all of your system. See the answers to http://askubuntu.com/questions/16178/why-is-it-bad-to-run-as-root for more reasons not to do this.

All that said, I guess I'm having the same issue in #388, although my terminal didn't output quite that much.

I would never run Steam as root, if it worked as it should, on behalf of the user.
I tried everything that i can. This problem is described in detail on the forum Steam for Linux. I have the Netbook AMD APU E-450, 4GB, integrated graphics card ATI Radeon 6320. And associated with proprietary FGLRX driver for Radeon graphics cards.
And i forgot to tell that i have installed Ubuntu 12.04 32bit.

I have the same symptoms as this issue's subject.

Start steam, it crashes almost immediately, and in the process it takes a few of my mouse cursors away.

Environment:

Running Steam via WINE works just fine (as does TF2 in WINE)

I can confirm that steam does not crash when I use the open source driver (xorg-x11-drv-ati 6.14.4-6 on fedora 17)

As I said earlier, the problem lies in proprietary video driver FGLRX from the company AMD, which is not in a hurry to make good video driver for Linux, in contrast to Nvidia.
Oh, I forgot to say that I installed Ubuntu 12.10 (32 bit). And Steam works well. But the game (TF 2 Beta) is very laggy (on video driver by default). But this is probably connected to my netbook
On proprietary video driver from AMD TF2 at all flies to the desktop.
