I think this might be related to events. During the smissmas event I got no drops at all. Last week it was good. Today is full moon, and no drop, but I saw in the log that other players got drops.
Nope. Today is no special event, and I got no drops.
Last week I received drops correctly, but today I played for 2 hours (on a valve payload race server), and nothing dropped.
I played more than 10 hours in the last two weeks, and I only got 4 weapons and 1 crate. Is this the new drop rate? Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone even care?
It's being reviewed. Those drops don't seem to be odd to me; they're on-par with my Windows drops.
OK, then maybe the wiki should be updated: the new weekly item cap is 2 weapons and 1 crate. This is the maximum I get since December.
Seems to me that it's more related to the number of hours, not number of days.
Now I experimented a little, and I think I have a better understanding of this issue. The item drop system works in epochs, on each Thursday a new epoch starts, and theoretically one can get a random number (average is 8-9) of weapon drops during an epoch, about one per hour.
I get drops only in the first startup of the game during an epoch. In the current epoch I first played 4 hours and got 4 weapons, on the second startup I played 3 hours and got nothing.
My experiment results still confirm the above theory with an addendum: no drops during full moon, and startups during that time don't count as first in an epoch.
Now the drops seem to be in order. I haven't tried full moon recently, though.
I haven't experienced this problem for a long time, I assume it is fixed. It would be nice to get a hat drop once in a while, though.
Nothing extracted yet.
This issue has been going on for quite a while. Sometimes it works, but it's really rare. At first I thought it's because the server I play on is modded, or it's not registered with valve, but in the chat log I see that other people do receive drops. Am I the only one affected, or is it a general issue with the Linux client?
