Have you seen this with other applications apart from Chrome rendering ontop of steam?
Yes, for example Kopete + Steam.
Interestingly bug was gone after some time. I restarted Steam to verify it is fixed but I am affected again.
Today I've found that this bug is occuring only while KWin effects are disabled. It means with desktop effects it is OK.
I'll update to KDE 4.12 and we will see.
I have updated to KDE 4.12, for a while all was correct in both composition turned on and off. After I started game and again clicked minimization button it happened. From this time I am affected again (but only without KWin effects).
It seems to me as memory corruption somewhere.
So it seems KDE is not source of the problem.
Today I've found another app is affected by strange glitching similar to one mentioned with Steam.
It is gcalc calculator. So it could be related with GTK3?
I am rather convinced it is not a steam issue now.
50% for NVidia driver problem, 30% for Xorg, 20% dont know .. Version 338.20 was OK.

Problem:
Steam wont minimize after clicking on the minimization button or taskbar entry.
There are two states:

a) Steam is not minimized and all is OK
b) Steam is not minimized and behaves as it is. Steam window is visible, but can't interact in any way. This situation creates graphical glitches.
Second choice is always induced by clicking on the minimization button/taskbar enty.
I am able to switch between both freely.
This bug occured to me today for first time. Both Steam and System were updated at the same time, so I am unable to determine where is root of the problem. I can reproduce this only with Steam.
