Recent Failure Reports:
If it is the problem I was having, try the NS2 beta
At least I was having a similar problem before
I tried the Beta and this does not stop the programme from crashing.
I might mention that the following occurs in the console before a crash:

third_party/tcmalloc/chromium/src/system-alloc.cc:423] SbrkSysAllocator failed.

mmap() failed: Cannot allocate memory
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
You should report this to the game devs also. It seems like the process is leaking memory and that eventually causes a crash. The ALSA code shouldn't crash when unable to allocate memory, but it's probably an innocent victim.
This has nothing to do with steam so wrong forum. This issue should be closed. BTW i have been running NS2 for months without too many issues.
Hello @GavinMendelGleason, if you are still experiencing issues with this game on an up to date system, please contact the game's devs.
Nothing extracted yet.
I'm running Natural Selection 2 on ubuntu 13.10 and it crashes consistently on either shader loading or during pre-caching on the optimisation stage. I just bought the game and have never been able to play so it would be nice to know of a workaround.
