So I guess this is part feature request and part bug report. It'd be great if Steam could connect to the remote desktop without launching a program and/or we could choose to keep the connection open after a launched program is closed.
Like many gamers that use mods, I use Skyrim with the Skyrim Script Extender. With SKSE, instead of launching Skyrim directly one needs to run the SKSE executable, which will run, launch Skyrim, and close itself. Many people just add SKSE to their library as a non-Steam game. Unfortunately if we attempt to run SKSE from across the network, the streaming ends as soon as SKSE closes itself, with Skyrim still running on the remote PC.
We can work around this by running other programs, such as Nexus Mod Manager, and launching SKSE from there, but this isn't an ideal solution.
