Steam just checks with the system to see if there's something newer suggested. In a terminal window can you do 'jockey-text -l' and 'jockey-text -u' and post the text here (assuming you have jockey available)?

Every time I start steam it will check for new amd drivers and pop up a window
asking for confirmation with available choices being either "UPGRADE" or "CANCEL". I already have latest catalyst driver 13.12 manually installed, this is annoying.
I suggest this driver check should be reworked to either let us disable it entirely or not re-show the same confirmation dialogue once the "cancel" has been chosen and only notify then different, newer driver version becomes available. Even reducing from every start-up to check once-a-week would be great.
