On my Ubuntu 12.10 laptop with the current Beta, Team Fortress2 launched and played without problems. When I tried to launch on several subsequent tries, it failed. I finally narrowed this down to whether or not I had the wireless mouse plugged in : with the mouse receiver plugged in, it fails. Seems to work reliably otherwise.

If I plug the mouse in after it has reached the mission/options/selection screen, there are no problems.

Failure description:
On launching the game (from either the steam library screen or from the (Ubuntu Unity) Team Fortress 2 shortcut), the loading proceeds past the Valve logo and then stops for perhaps a minute on the sepia-toned arena picture. It then silently drops back into the desktop environment.

I can update with other logs/debugs -- please direct me as needed.

Which wireless mouse do you have?

I cannot reproduce this using a Logitech M325.

@fjordfolio is this a Microsoft mouse? Would you include the output of lsusb in your reply.

Closing - please reopen if anyone can repro this and let me know the mouse information. Thanks.
