Friends and Chat windows do not display Japanese characters

Description: I discovered upon changing my profile name to a mix of Japanese Katekana and Hirigana that the main steam window (profile view) displays the characters perfectly, however the Friends and Chat windows show my profile name as a series of boxes.

Confirmed with a windows-user of steam I was chatting with that the name does show correctly on their firend and chat windows.

Steps to reproduce: Change profile name to use Katekana or Hirigana characters. Once set, open friends window and/or chat window and look at the listed profile name at the top of the window. Only empty squares will appear.

Note: This appears to be a missing font issue. I am under the impression steam tends to use its own included fonts. If this is incorrect, perhaps including installation of any necessary fonts in the installer may be considered.

The next client release will have some improvements in this area, assuming you have that WenQuanYi Zen Hai font installed. Please give it a try when it comes out.

Yes, this seems to have resolved the issue.

Upon installing the update, initially nothing showed up for my name, and I was unable to type/copy/paste anything (japanese characters) into the change-name field. I had to find the WenQuanYi font package in the Ubuntu software center and install it.

Once installed, restarting steam allowed entering and viewing japanese characters where they once were only boxes.
