Hm, I noticed something interesting today. Since I wanted to try the AMD Catalyst 14.6 Beta, I had to revert my Kernel and settled with the current 3.13.x Mint/Ubuntu kernel. (Kernel 3.15 is unsupported by AMD yet)
Now after all was done, I accidentally looked into the system information and it said:
https://gist.github.com/Paxnos/f5eba217d05f0b9ce763
(CPU speed: 3101 Mhz) - which is correct.
When I last checked a few days ago under Kernel 3.15, I still got the 5900Mhz.
It does seem like it has something to do with this... but currently I can't dig deeper where the error is.
Closing as the user has turned into a ghost. Steam should just be collecting the cpu speed reported by the kernel at the time the system information is generated.
Nothing extracted yet.
Hi,
so, I just noticed Steam detecing wrong CPU speed. The system information output says the following.
https://gist.github.com/Paxnos/8b960dbdca12c74a2bde
The CPU in my computer is an Intel Core i5-2400.
I'm using the current Steam Beta.
Not really issue and just something I wanted to add: It'd be cool if the system information statistics showed the circulation of AVX (and possibly AVX 2) support.
