Hi!

I'm using AMD/ATI Radeon HD 8570M.

When I was running generated packages with proprietary fglrx driver installer from AMD website on Ubuntu 14.04 this didn't happen; once I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.10 (which blocked their current driver from being installed) I had to utilize fglrx-updates package from the official Ubuntu repo, and this issue came back again.

May be this is somehow related, and I mention here that I'm affected with this bug, too.

Actually, I've ruined my Debian, install Xubuntu 14.04 with the latest beta AMD drivers and described problem was gone.
Plaque-fcc, thanks for info. Will not upgrade to 14.10.

Yes, seems to be related to using manually installed driver, and back
on proprietary in-repo distributed, this problem comes again.

I suggest you simply wait a bit and check if they provide new beta
supporting XServer 7.7+ (1.16+).

Although, I can now use my Radeon HD 8570M (discrete GPU) again,
however BOINC OpenCL on GPU/APU works no more…

Ping. Just to remind that process `steam´ eats 107.2% CPU right now and
everyday constantly.

I prefer staying on current (proprietary) AMD driver provided with
Ubuntu 14.10 repo, it's the only one state when
• Catalyst detects both cards;
• Steam detects discrete GPU;
• Steam games run better;
• BOINC OpenCL GPU apps run (tada!).

Hope we won't have multicore steam process which could turn it into
complete disaster.

Hello @Tolianych, @Plaque-fcc, are either of you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?

TTolianych 2018-03-23 github

Hi! Sorry, I've commented earlier from another account, I installed Xubuntu 14.04 and problem was gone. Now I'm using another laptop with nvidia video and haven't any problems, but can't check on original hardware.
