After leaving steam running for a while the client starts responding slowly to page refreshes and changing lets say from the steam store front to your activity feed or the steam community front page.

Scrolling the page will result in a garbled page with some sections of the screen having scrolled properly while others haven't. Also after it starts to respond slowly it might show pages without the CSS stylesheet applied and/or with missing graphics.

Force quitting the steamwebhelper processes solves these issues temporarily, as well as restarting the steam client.

This has started happening with today's steam client beta update.

I'm running openSUSE 13.1 x86_64 with KDE.

If you opt out of the beta update does the problem stop?

DDaverball 2014-09-04 github

I have been running the client today for several hours before the update without any issue, so I assume it is indeed related to the update as nothing else has changed between then and after the update, I also managed to reproduce the issue across several restarts of steam and kills of steamwebhelper. I'll opt out of beta for now and let you know in case this issue resurfaces, but I honestly doubt it will. Either way it's hard to tell since the amount of time it takes for it to start acting up seems rather random.

It hasn't occured at all during this past hour, it took definitely less than an hour the last couple of times in the beta branch. so it is very likely related to the update.

It's not just on Linux. It's also a Mac (OSX) issue.

This issue is now even worse, as killing the steamwebhelper processes now tends to freeze up steam UI to any user input, sometimes killing them several times resolves this but other times it even freezes up KDE mouse input and I have to kill steam entirely to regain full control on my desktop.

I hope you put this further up in your priority list, because as I understand you promoted the beta branch that initially contained this bug already to the main branch, due to getting steam music out officially.

Hello, is anyone still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?
