Update: Still fails after upgrade to kernel 3.17.1.
This came to me after I updated to 14.10 and got all my proprietary
fglrx installed unusable.
did u find any way to solve the issue??
i am also getting glXvisualfailed!
Hello @Narender271295,
This error message is a general indicator that you do not have a sane 32 bit OpenGL implementation installed. If you just updated your video driver, you may need to reboot for the kernel module in memory to match the userspace libraries. Other misconfigurations may also cause this issue.
Hello @liam-mitchell, @Plaque-fcc, are either of you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?
If you are, can you check if you have a sane 32 bit opengl driver with a 32 bit build of glxinfo? For Arch, that is glxinfo32 from lib32-mesa-demos, and Ubuntu it's glxinfo from mesa-utils:i386.
Oh lord no - this was so long ago I completely forgot about it :P Unfortunately I don't remember what the fix was in my case, since I have been playing Steam games successfully for a couple years on that laptop.
Thanks for the feedback, closing as this appears to have been a 32 bit opengl driver issue.
Nothing extracted yet.
Since my kernel was updated to 3.16.4-1, I have been unable to open Steam on my Arch Linux laptop. It spits out the following error:
glxinfo output:
If any more info is necessary, or this is the wrong place for this, just let me know :)
