You will want to report this to the router manufacturer too since it shouldn't completely fall over even if Steam is doing something wrong.
You want to re-check for it as soon as you update to the newest
available firmware, I guess. Just to see if it's been already fixed.
Yes, there are routers that work non-obviously wrong: not allowing games
to get online in some conditions, hanging up on torrents running, losing
Wi-Fi availability when IPTV running and having many other amazing bugs.
If users don't report such issues, it slows down or even disables
fixing them. My job is related to routers, and I noticed that
manufacturers can leave firmware bugs intact not only from a single
device software version to version, but even for years in their «brand
new» models. So let them know, it's important for your own user
experience.
Hello @QRQD, are you still experiencing this issue with an up to date system? If your router is crashing, then there are bigger issues with the router.
Closing as the quality of network hardware is outside the scope of this issue tracker.

Distro: Kubuntu 14.04
Happens after transistor finishes loading its opening cutscene, or when Monaco trying to connect to a server or connect someone to your own server. Router seems to hard crash, not accepting pings or connections from any connected computers and requiring a physical restart to fix.
Issue only happens when steam is in online mode. Other games may also cause this, but I haven't tested extensively - Cave Story Plus, Super Meat Boy, Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 all seem to work fine.
My router is a Billion BiPAC 7800NXL with default firmware, for reference.
