I'll occasionally add logs in case one of them shows something new:
Is this still crashing? If so, can you give me a crashid here? Thanks.
Yeah, I just checked, and it still crashes. Also, for the record, I just downloaded and installed updates for both my steam client and TF2, so they should be up to date.
I'm not sure what the crashid is, but I'm gonna guess that it's the segmentation fault/ProcID: 5339

(Just updated the post, as the previous log was incorrect - it seemed my client hadn't updated correctly, but that resolved, and I updated the crash log with new results.)
I updated the game and the client, and it's still crashing. However, this time it loaded almost fully (initializing resources), before it crashed.

I realize that there could be a number of things causing this - conflicts with my current install of Xubuntu (programs installed, configurations, etc.), conflicts with Xubuntu itself, problems stemming from the fact that I'm still using the same steam I had installed back in the closed beta, etc.
Because of these possible causes, I'm going to eventually test a fresh installation of steam and TF2 on a fresh installation of Xubuntu; however, my internet bandwidth is quite awful, so I can't guarantee how soon I'll get around to it. If anyone reading this with a fast internet connection and/or a lot of free time wants to test this and post some results, feel free.
As a note, I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10, and steam and TF2 work like a charm on that.

Nothing extracted yet.
TF2 starts fine, but when I try to open a training mission, it starts to load the game, gets about 3/4 of the way through, then crashes all of a sudden, closing back to steam.
