I've never had this problem (the error message about the cloud), but except for SS3, Cogs, Tiny & Big and TF2, for most of the other games (SpaceChem, SPAZ, Splice...) the cloud usage is still at 0kb, even after playing a bunch of levels.
Forget to mention, i don't have a dedicated graphic card on my laptop (i use it for work) so i can only try (had tried) indie games cpu/dependand like:
Frozen Synapse
Spacechem
SPAZ
Waking Mars
I've tried today playing SpaceChem, Serious Sam 3, Splice, Dungons of Derdmor, Cogs and Solar 2 on windows.
Only Cogs and Solar 2 loaded the saves I made from linux (Fedora 17 x64).
And when I got back to linux, none of the other games have loaded the saves sync from windows.
Moreover, I now have the error message when I launch SpaceChem telling me that it failed to sync.
These are issues with 3rd party games. Please report issues with games failing to sync properly or load saves to the developer of the game in question.
If it was just a couple of games, yes you'd be right.
The problem is that every single games that i own fail to download the saves from the cloud. I've posted a list of games with that issue, but i'm sure that if I'd buy another game with steam cloud, it will shows the same problem.
So that is most likely a steam client problem, not a problem with these games.
It appears that SPAZ and SpaceChem have incorrectly configured Cloud settings, I’ve already been in touch with the SpaceChem devs, will contact SPAZ…
@johndrinkwater thanks, in the meantime i tried Splice also.
It works fine on linux, it runs, it seems to store the data on steam cloud too. The problem is that the savegames from linux are somewhat separated from the ones from windows (it's like i have 2 steam cloud system for that game).
I don't think that it was intended to works in that way, but it's the first game that i can run on linux without steam cloud errors (so far)
I've tried SpaceChem today and the sync problem is solved.
Nothing extracted yet.
I've done a fast reasearch and i find nothing related this, in case i'm wrong please merge/remove this issue.
I've downloaded some indie games so far, but the cloud doesn't works for any of them.
When i fire steam from a console, i got the following dump (i've cutted the unecessary stuff):
[...]

When i try to run a steam cloud game, the ui say that there's a problem to synch with the cloud, and the console dump that
