I failed to find that section, but I have Ubuntu OS and an nVidia graphics card. The computer is a Sun ultraM40

At least:

• CPU vendor + model + platform type (output of "lscpu" in terminal);
• GPU vendor(s) + model(s) + VRAM(s) etc (can be found with at least "lspci");
• RAM size + type + clock;
• Ubuntu GNU OS release (use "lsb_release --release -s" if unsure);
• HDD free space amount;
• Output of "steam" when you run it in terminal.

All this data (and much more; except for the latter) you also can obtain if you have lshw
(or lshw-gtk) installed.

It can be useful if you can determine is your computer graphics hybrid/dual and try steam client on
all possible modes and include the results of your tests here.

Please, add this info. And tell us what happened before it stopped to start: did you switch to Steam Beta
and started to have this problem? Or did it ever start on your machine? Or it stopped working after some
system update? Or there is some vital library missing from the beginning?

Because it all matters.
