Steam linux client becomes unresponsive after some time. It may be after watching video on the client or now, when the main store windows has animated title.

Can you post your system details?

Elementary OS Freya, GTX 650 with proprietary driver 331.113, Intel core I3 3220. I have no non-system ppa added, so i'm sure this is not the distro problem. Week ago when was using Ubuntu 14.04 this bug was there.
And there is some client graphic glitches after some time also.

Some time I need to right click on steam and choose to stop page, and reload it to make everything work.

P.S. Upgrade links, previous was wrong, this is fine.

This has been happening here too (both freeze and graphic corruption). I just upgraded from a GTX 460 to GTX 970, and it happens with both.

I've seen the same problem on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit and OpenSUSE 13.2. The browser part becomes unresponsive and if I trigger a reload of the page it comes back glitched. The scroll bar becomes unthemed and the more I scroll towards the bottom, the more rendering issues appear. Solution is to just restart Steam.

Does this happen with the 346.35 driver?

?ghost 2015-02-25 github

I upgraded to that a few weeks ago and haven't seen it happen since then, but i haven't used Steam much since then either. I'll post if it happens again.

Hello, is anyone still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?

Note: Xorg-server 1.20 users may be seeing #5480.

SSilur 2018-05-20 github

yes, just started to experience this after yesterday's mesa upgrade on arch linux, nvidia 396.24

Kkisak-valve maintainer 2018-05-20 github

Hello @Silur, if your issue is a very recent regression, then it's unlikely to be related to this issue from 2014 / 2015.

Kkisak-valve maintainer 2018-06-22 github

Closing as the original issue appears to have been resolved some time ago. The newer regression mentioned was a poor interaction between xorg server 1.20 and mesa which was resolved by https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/223324/.

Nothing extracted yet.
