In my opinion it would be grate if there would be an function for creating an .desktop file in in usr/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications/ like the Crate Desktop Shortcut function.

Also, GNOME don't show desktop icons; there is a extension to do this, but .desktop files still don't run.

To circumvent this, I created a shortcut to the Desktop directory in ~/.local/share/applications.
