Steam Home Streaming supports sending gamepad events from client to server. This is desirable, but the way the feature was implemented causes conflicts with certain games, particularly those don't use Microsoft Xinput. This is an issue with both the Windows, Linux and Mac version of Steam (client side). Final Fantasy XIII is one of the games where this issue occurs.

It is possible to use an external tool like xboxdrv or MotionInJoy to emulate keyboard and mouse events, which makes the affected games playable. However, this also requires denying Steam access to the game controller. It would be a lot simpler if Steam allowed disabling controller input instead.

Is there an environment variable or hidden option that causes Steam to skip gamepad detection? If not, please implement one.
