@TimePower, you're saying glxinfo reports Mesa 10.5.2, and nvidia-smi returns nVidia 340.76, something smells fishy there. They should be reporting the same opengl implementation (or nvidia-smi should fail?). If mesa is being used, it's also possible there are conflicts with the steam runtime.
