My steam has few times tried to verify the game content of TF2 and it doesn't finnish even it says it's 100%.
I had a similar issue. IIRC I changed my drivers to Catalyst 12.11 beta and completely uninstalled steam and reinstalled using gdebi.
I have uninstalled and purged steam deb, and installed the latest version from the repo: steam_1.0.0.22_i386.deb
as said here by the comunity.
Now it continues to output that error, but it also doesn't lose the data downloaded, so executing steam several times allows me to download the 101MBs of data in several chunks, and now it is properly instaled. But the issue continues.
This issue seems related to this other windows issue.
Please keep in mind that this issue leaves people without a steam client installed, so they can even give input about the beta.
Is this still happening?
I have just set up a Debian Unstable 64 bits system laptop, installed arch support and 32 libs, and installed steam from the .deb package of steampowered.com without issue. No more of those errors. Can't reproduce it anymore.
Also, in this just made install, when I saw it was going to finish the neccesary 210Mb of data, I clicked cancel. The steam client then resumed gracefully and downloaded the last chunk of 50Mbs, installing correctly.
Noteworthy is that in the meantime of all this bug report I have moved from DSL connection (200Kb/s downlink, several hours to download the client) to fiber (5Mb/s downlink, client downloaded in 1 min). So if there was some timeout from steam servers on my download connection, now there it isn't one.
Thanks, closing.
Nothing extracted yet.
Problem
steam fails to finish the update for the first time, so I'm unable to login, see the steam client, etc.
The client starts as normal, begins to update, and when it has downloaded like 5 to 11 megas, it stops, saying it's not online anymore.
