same issue with two rock candy xb360 usb wired clones plugged at same time

I just updated to the latest Steam release for linux tonight. When I go to the controller options, it now shows "X controller detected" multiple times down the left side of the screen. I can reconfigure the buttons, but when I go to save, the buttons are not highlighted. So I do not see what I am selecting. I've tried navigating down and left, and it exits the rebind menu and the buttons are not reconfigured.
On Ubuntu 14.04.
