BigPicture crashes immediately - ubuntu 15.10 chroot

I have been running ubuntu in a chroot environment for a while on an openelec to get steamstreaming working on my htpc..
This is still working fine with in an 14.04 chroot with an older steam version but something went wrong and i cant update this system anymore.

Now i put together a new system based on 15.10 with latest steam but big picture mode crashes immediately after it starts. But steam itself works fine in desktop mode and i also tried a few games without any issues.. (After removing the libraries that cause problems on 15.10)

if i start steam using "steam -login myuser mypassword -bigpicutre" i get the login message from bigpicture mode but it crashes immediately after this:

if i dont supply steam with the login information (steam -bigpicture) it doesnt crash immediately and i will get the user selection screen but after i enter the password steam will crash.

I also have to add that i am running steam as root user but since this is in a chroot environment on a read only main system, i didn't bother with any users and just removed the lines that prevented root from starting steam. Of course i tried it with a normal user account to make sure its not related and steam crashes at the same moment.

The system is a AMD APU (5350) and i run a i386 ubuntu on a x64 host system, im using opensource graphics drivers. it is a minimal ubuntu install with only stuff required for steam.

Btw, just to be clear did the steps here (remove/renaming specific libraries):

to get steam working in the first place on my hardware/os.

And Steam works find in desktop mode with those modifications, just the bigpicture mode isnt working anymore.

Hi @kisak-valve no i have not tried this in quite a while.
As the System was a primary htpc i switched it with a low powered but 4k arm linux device, so full steam client is not possible.

I am hoping tho that the pure streaming client (for the pi) will be available in the future on more arm platforms or even x86_64. The full client is quite a hassle imo if you only want to stream from pc anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, there's some other open chroot-related issues that probably cover whatever you encountered. Closing as the test system has gone away.
