Given Steam can collect system information, it seems logical that Steam allows the user to setup common configurations for options such as audio and video. For example, audio levels, fullscreen/windowed, resolution, etc.

This will create a more consistent gaming experience, which will work well with Big Picture mode. It may even alleviate problems with fullscreen games and nVidia/TwinView.
