I know that Steam has its own notifications system, but for some people who are expecting notifications to show up at a certain location on the screen(like me), its really annoying to see notifications show up on a location you don't want it to appear. If Steam provided an option to use native shell notifications instead of Steam notification system, steam notifications will show up on the lock screens, notification centers so people will not miss a Steam message that a friend has sent.
