@Tele42 might be related, but certainly not a duplicate. I don't dualboot one distro on all affected systems
Having this problem. I assume the two are related, Steam support are refusing to help cos i'm not using ubuntu (an outdated version as well)
After reinstalling my computer it worked for 3 days and now my skin and password are not being saved. Any fix?
@calexil Are you still having this problem? Broken for me, Very annoying.
Still happening. Almost certain it has to do with signing in on two machines on the same network now...
@Tele42 thx, stupid email replies
Still not fixed. Very annoying. I have to login via SSH on my Steam Machine using this script on it:
`DISPLAY=:0 xdotool getactivewindow key KP_Enter
read -s -p "Password: " spw
echo
DISPLAY=:0 xdotool getactivewindow type --delay 100 "$spw"
sleep 0.2s
DISPLAY=:0 xdotool getactivewindow key KP_Enter`
Any news on the issue? its been closed without answer, but lately Steam has been like that, always asking for password.
Nothing extracted yet.

steam does not remember my password, mint 18 MATE, The default keyring is unlocked. remember password box checked, and 'do not store login cred..." unchecked...
randomly and seemingly without cause the login will fail, and steam will require me to reenter my password
insanely annoying to have to enter my encrypted password over and over again.
I think this is keyring/auto login related
