I have very serious problem, I cannot access steam and games on my Ubuntu. After installing the system I installed steam. It is performing uptates and downloading it and then closing. This is output after running from console:

hugs@galaxy:~$ steam
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1355957371_client)
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Looks like steam didn't shutdown cleanly, scheduling immediate update check

I assume you have an Optimus enabled laptop and thus had setup a Bumblebee environment? Right?

It sounds like you're using an Optimus laptop. This means that by default everything is using the Intel GPU to render graphics, and your X Windows setup doesn't allow OpenGL applications to run.

Please follow the steps here to enable running Steam using primus run to make use of your Nvidia GPU: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/5/846939854395048434/

I've compiled and wrote a guide from start to end on how to setup your system, you can check it here:

I hope the steps provided worked for you. I'm closing the bug. Please reopen it if you have further problems.
