Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1.0.0.54-1
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch linux

  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I usually play Dota 2 on Steam. Online games on a average take 45 minutes. While playing if there is a network failure, when network comes, the Dota 2 game coordinator is reached and I can resume playing. However, if it happens a second time, the game coordinator can not be reached unless I restart. In this case, I get to reconnect the game I was playing but every 2 minutes, the client throws me out of the game with a message that there is no steam logon. If the game is over in this state, the data is not synced. Only after restarting steam the data gets synced.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Play Dota 2 online
  2. Disconnect network, reconnect it and connect to the game
  3. Disconnect again and try reconnecting

@gdrewb-valve, is this something going on in Dota 2 or is the game a victim of Steam's lost connection.

I'll pass this by the larger team and we'll see if they have any feedback.

I had this exact problem with TF2. Filed a bug (in game).

@gdrewb-valve , @kisak-valve it seems this issue has been referred to at multiple places but its been three years and the problem still persists. Please update here or at least have the courtesy to say this won't be fixed.
