After switching to a map where it didn't happen, did you try going back to pl_barnblitz?
I tried it again today. I created a new game on pl_barnblitz and experienced graphical corruption. I quit that game and made one on pl_badwater. There were no problems apart from low performance. I tried barnblitz again. It was slightly better, but it was still not rendering correctly.
Here are some screenshots from barnblitz. The first one just shows an area of ground that looks garbled. The second was something I had just noticed for the first time. When looking to the right, that glitch would appear. Noclipping through the map showed several other areas like this.
I'm unable to replicate this issue myself. Anyone else?
I get this too with the Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11 drivers. This is my system info according to Steam (the graphics card is specifically an AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHZ Edition).

I'm wondering if it's an issue with one of the textures and AMD/ATI drivers....
I was also running this on a 7870 like therealpxc. Is there any additional troubleshooting that would help narrow down the cause.
Hmm... the graphical corruption does not occur for me with the 12.10 Linux Catalyst drivers. It seems to be not only an AMD-specific issue, but an issue introduced by the current beta drivers (or their interaction with the game, although issues like this are likely on AMD to fix rather than Valve).
I had similar issues with my 5770 and 12.11 beta 11, but they seemed to stem from fglrx's application-specific optimizations. Try disabling Catalyst A.I. in the Catalyst Control Center.
I tried disabling Catalyst AI (it was at standard) and that helped a lot. There is still missing terrain and now I noticed a bar across the sky. It doesn't change anymore though. I made a screen shot and I saved some stuff from the console that might be useful. I only included stuff that looked like something had gone wrong.
The screen shot shows two areas of terrain (on the left and right of the tracks) that are missing (transparent) and the garbled bar that goes across the sky.

I have the same card and driver version as MaxSpain and therealpxc. I've played quite a bit of TF2 on linux recently, and have seen the same issue as described appear on multiple different maps. It only appears to happen approximately every one in six joins for me, and rejoining the server almost always seems to fix it.
I'll disable Catalyst AI and report back with pictures if I see it again.

AMD Catalyst 13.1 drivers fixed the graphical corruption issue and provided significantly better performance for me.
Issue transferred to ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games#61.
This issue is closed - continue conversation there.
Nothing extracted yet.
Using ATI beta drivers, pl_barnblitz exhibits poor performance, which is expected, and graphical corruption which is not. Several pieces of terrain are transparent, and some areas were garbled. I rejoined the game and the garbling was much rarer, but transparent textures persisted. I have not played much TF2, but I fired up another map and this was not present. I also changed some video settings in the game to no effect.
