When I click on the "Steam" menu, it crashes with the following output:

This is on Arch Linux x64 installed with pacman. I can report a bug there if it's not a problem with Steam itself.

I've had the same issue, but sometimes Steam will freeze instead of crashing.

@RunningDroid, your problem may be a video driver issue. These crashes don't occur for us, so without being able to get crashes there isn't a lot more we can do to isolate the problem.

This is an issue with the opensource drivers, I'll see if I can find why steam is the only thing (that I know of) that causes this.

@ZeXx86: I would use the proprietary drivers but my computer has a legacy chipset and the proprietary driver I would have to use is outdated.

The catalyst 13.1 legacy driver that just came out Jan 21? It supports xorg 1.13.x.

it doesn't work on Arch's stable xorg, it fails with

I think at the moment it only works on Arch with Ubuntu's catalyst and xorg-server-git, but I'm going to have to check it out.
