Hello @h1z1, are you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?
Closing pending feedback.
/usr/bin/steam
steam.sh[7900]: Running Steam on ubuntu 22.04 64-bit
steam.sh[7900]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[8129]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!
steam.sh[7900]: Steam client's requirements are satisfied
gnome-system-monitor show PID 7204 process name steam status Zombie
I just did a clean system install and updated everything
I use Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish (x86-64) with Cinnamon 5.2.7
It ran smoothly before my reinstallation of the system (system disk replacement)
My home partition is on another disk.
Could it be related ? Some settings still in there that I should delete?
Nothing extracted yet.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Steam or SteamVR is spawning zombie processes despite VR not running
They appear to get kicked off by some background process without ANY USER INTERACTION. I realize you're ignoring bug reports, posting for posterity. Seriously though, what the fuck Valve? This is NOT COOL.
The steam client is not even in the foreground. I was trying to find out why your VIVE SOFTWARE calls home to some servers in China, came back to this.
Not only is that not over HTTPS, what in the world does it need to be loaded in the background for?? I mean you actually have Google Analytics enabled in it:
My computer is mine, not yours.
