Steam crash when clicking github link from open beta news

The Steam client (Built Dec 19 2012, at 14:14:29) crashes when following the link to the github bug reporting page from the NEWS area.

Steps to reproduce (as of 20th Dec AEST):

  1. Open Steam for Linux
  2. Scroll to bottom of 'STORE' page to the 'Steam Headlines' section
  3. Click the 'Steam for Linux Beta Now Available to All'
  4. Click the 'GitHub bug reporting' link, and watch Steam crash.

These steps above are only current while the news is in the latest headlines, otherwise you can probably find a way to this news item through the 'NEWS' tab.

Found this on one of my ArchLinux installs (details below), however a friend runs Ubuntu and they were also able to reproduce it, so I expect it affects everyone.

That's interesting, I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and links from that same post work as intended. I am not able to reproduce it.
