Same problem here ..
It is possible to switch resolution, but you have to change it gradually and always click button to keep setup (it is little hard if you see just piece of screen). If resolution is changed, just restart the game.
This bug was closed because the issue concerns the game and not the Steam client. Please contact the game developer on their official website with this information.

other than 800x600, choosing other resolution will cause screen to be cropped
step producing:
-go to display configuration
-choose other than 800x600
-apply setting
