Chrome has a built in support of flash, but flash works fine on my OS (Ubuntu ) independent of browsers (ie. firefox, opera etc). My point was that if the OS supported flash, then steam should hook into that. It's a pretty core part of the steam product. I click on a game, I want to buy and the video advertising the game can't play.

It appears that the 64bit version of Flash isn't supported. Download the 32 bit tar.gz and place libflashplayer.so in ~/Steam/ubuntu12_32/plugins/ or on my system it is /home/username/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/plugins/.
Hopefully Valve will work out 64bit Flash support soon.
Not sure what you mean by 64bit flash not being supported. If steam uses chrome and steam uses the built in pepper flash that comes with chrome it doesn't matter what version (32bit or 64bit) of chrome is running; it should still support flash. You can run 32bit chrome on 64bit linux just fine.
Flash worked just fine before this most recent update without having any flash plugins installed.
I only brought up chrome to respond to a previous comment. I'm not sure if chrome support has anything to do with flash one way or another. I'll try the 32bit flash fix, though it sounds more like a work around then a fix.
Flash no longer working is a regression from the previous release of the steam client.
So far Steam is 32-bit only the flashplugin needs to be 32-bit as well. I have fully working flash in my Steam running 64-bit Ubuntu, but you must download the 32-bit plugin as well.
A long term solution for this has been proposed (HTML), but will take a long time to implement if/when it's eventually decided upon.
Really, Adobe has acknowledged HTML5 animation/video as a flash-killer. With Steam's linux client being based on Chromium, it should support HTML5 as-is, so the only issue would be replacing the videos... the oh-so-many videos.
@MrSchism Well, flash seems to work on windows/mac just fine. You'd only need to replace the videos for the linux games. I'm sure that windows/mac can deal with html5 (or I would think so). So you'd just need to roll out html5 videos for the linux products, and if windows/mac support it then you can just point them to the same video files so you wouldn't need to duplicate content depending on OS/Infrastructure.
Anyways, those are long term solutions. I'll try installing the 32 bit version of flash to verify it works. it's a work around, but if it works, I'll close out the bug.
You need to put the 32-bit version of Flash Player (https://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/completion/?installer=Flash_Player_11.2_for_other_Linux_(.tar.gz)_32-bit) into "~/.steam/bin32/plugins" and to make sure you have "libasound2-plugins:i386" to have sound. I'm on Debian Sid 64-bit and with that I can see every flash videos on the store without problems.
@safaci2000 : HTML5 support is browser-based, so both Mac and Windows would be fine with the transition.

( what did not solve it, was trying to install the 32 bit flash through the package manager. It broke the 64 bit flash)
I read the readme me from flash, and put the files in place.
I added in Suse in .steam/steam/ubuntu12_32 a folder called plug-ins.
Copied the so in there.
It was still not working, but that was solved by adding 32bit libs.
What worked for me was installing nspluginwrapper, but more important the 32 bit libs, my package manager added when it installed the wrapper.
